Guitar Tips
Tuning
Tuning is a problem for everyone. Tempering,
used by piano tuners starts
from the middle pitch of the instrument and gradually exagerates
the pitch
as it moves lower or higher.
Example;
Tune from your middle strings out to control neck pressure.
Example in
Standard Tuning go in this order G3 - D4 - A5 - B2 - E6
- E1. Yet
tune G3 and D4 as perfectly in tune as you can then; the
A5 and E6 ever
so slightly flat and the B2 and E1 ever so slightly sharp.
Remember as a
string gets lower in pitch it has to be thicker and longer
to intonate at the
12th fret. Repeat 3 times quickly.
The whole guitar is now tempered and tuned.
Also use this technique for
all string instruments.
